I got this demo disc of one of them gaming mags, PC Gamers or CD Rom or something one day that had this game on it called warcraft. Hmm i said and installed it. A buddie of mine was over and we were looking for someting to do, sun outside shinning away, but us in there with the computer, gunna check out this new game.
The computer I had was a 486 50 mghrz with a compressed 250 mgbyte harddrive and 4 meg of ram, as well as a real old graphics card.
Well we got that warcraft game started and got that peon building a hall and it took for ever. I figured out that the grunts didnt help at all with the building and then moved my grunt and the 1 peon out to get some wood, yes i was a newbie, it was my first game, well that computer and that peon, it was just to slow, i had to get something to drink, and the munchies were catching up for some strange reason, so my friend and I left the game running and we went to the store and a small drive were we smoked, uh, ciggerettes, then came home, to find that the peon and the grunt had been killed but not before the peon had cut away the whole clump of trees!
I got right off on this game after learning a bit more but the demo was not enuff for me I had to get the real thing, the company that made it, Blizzard, had written an updated version called War2 of all things and the store in Vancouver ought to have it i said to myself. This was winter 95, and snow was everywhere but I must have it. On the news busses were haveing a hard time getting around and it was like a blizzard as the same friend, and another, that I later played modem games with, drove my to the ferrey terminal for my trip to Vancouer.
The bus I took seemed to make it just fine though, and I arrived at the mall at about 5:30. Knowing that my chances were slim to make it to the store I ran, and even so the doors were closed but I could see some one inside. Thinking of only getting that warcraft 1 or 2 by that time it didn't matter I pull out the hundred doller bill from my pocket and waved it into the shopdude saying "I want to buy Warcraft"
I got my Warcraft.
